CCM has launched the first issue of Phosphorus Industry China Monthly Report, which indicates that yellow phosphorus export is still sluggish without special export tariff.

It is reported that China's government levied 100% special export tariff on yellow phosphorus from May 20th , 2008 and Dec. 31st, 2008. However, it made downward adjustments for three times during the financial crisis to stimulate export and finally eliminate the special export tariff from July 1st , 2009. China's yellow phosphorus monthly export volume surged in July 2009, thanks to the elimination of the special export tariff since this month.

China's export volume of yellow phosphorus kept stable after the elimination of special export tariff. However, it dropped obviously since the beginning of 2011. China totally exported 6,340 tonnes of yellow phosphorus between January and May in 2011, only one half of that in the same period last year.

The obvious drop of export volume is probably owing to the soaring price and the increased domestic demand. Compared with the same period last year, average export price of yellow phosphorus increased by more than 20% in 2011.

In the remainder of 2011, price of yellow phosphorus is expected to keep rising and the demand from downstream industry will keep strong. As a result, the export volume of yellow phosphorus will still be downward.
